Laura's Locks of Love

For a long time now, Laura has been growing out her hair so that she could eventually donate it to a program which creates wigs for individuals suffering from hair loss due to cancer or other medical conditions. Today was finally the day. Today she finally had the necessary 8 inch long ponytail that could be chopped off and sent away. Today she came home with a sassy new bob, and it looks great on her!

Our very own Cousin It.
Get ready....

Wow!

Super cute!

The Barber Shop

....sigh....

There's just something about taking my baby boy to have all of his beautiful, wispy blonde hair snipped and clipped away that makes me want to cry! But alas, my baby isn't really a baby anymore at all, rather a busy little boy who now sports a snazzy, "big boy" haircut.

No, this moment of sentimentality does not mean that we want or plan to have any more babies (we mean it, this time!). We are most certainly done with that- but it also doesn't mean that I can't be sad those days are behind us, and that Little G is growing up.
Lots of hair!
Not sure about this...

Are we done, yet?

Handsome!!!

Baranof Ice Skating Rink

Today we enjoyed a couple of hours skating with Laura and Emily's Girl Scout troops. Even Grady spent some time on the ice, but was most happy sitting and watching all of the kids whiz past! Notice all of the helmets....we have learned our lesson (thanks to Mommy's stitches!) and now are protecting our precious noggins when we're on the ice.

Our Furry Friend

This little red fox has been spending a lot of time around our house lately, and we think he's very cute. The dogs go crazy when they're outside and he's nearby, and we spend a lot of time watching him from the front door and kitchen windows.

Life is Good

It's kind of hard to tell in these pictures, but we happened to be walking out of the woods just as the snow began to fall. The flakes were huge, perfect for catching on your tongue and nose!
Grady wasn't really sure why we all had our tongues sticking out of our mouths, but he joined in anyway!

A big one on Emily's nose!

It truly is the simple things.....

Fort Abercrombie

We decided to take advantage of the mild temperatures today and headed out for a family hike through Fort Abercrombie State Park. The kids had a great time running through the forest and checking out the cool WWII bunkers and artifacts along the way. What a beautiful place we live!

Happy Birthday, Laura!

Laura celebrated her 8th (oh my goodness!) birthday this New Year's Eve. The new bike from Mom and Dad was a big surprise, and she's already been riding it, despite the fact that it's only 26 degrees outside! Along with that came lots of great treats- books and crafts and clothes and even a sewing machine...and an I-Dog to accompany the fabulous Shuffle that Aunt April gave her for Christmas. What more could a girl want?
Before school let out for winter vacation, Laura had a birthday party with some of her girlfriends. We went to see High School Musical 3 and then came home for pizza and cake. Poor Jerod, I'm not sure he'll be able to handle the many, many more years we have ahead of us that will involve dozens of wild and crazy girls.
