Exploring the Island

I have had a container of sea glass (beach glass, whatever you call it) in our home for years- some was collected during childhood vacations in Maine, some from our time on the Cape, and many pieces were found on Jewel Beach, a little rocky beach right here on the Kodiak Coast Guard Base. Most anyone who will read this blog knows that Emily is a lover and collector of all things fragile. Her collection of "fragile things" fills shelf upon shelf and container upon container. Visiting Jewel Beach and filling her own jar with sea glass has been first and foremost on her mind since learning that we were moving to Kodiak, so as soon as we drove off the ferry, we headed to the beach. It must have been as wonderful as I had told her, because we've been there every day since!

We also visited Roslyn Beach in the village of Chiniak- a favorite camping spot. Can't wait for all of you to come and visit so that we can take you expoloring with us!!!
