Trip Journal- Day 7

Day 7
Sunday, June 22, 2008

We made it to Grande Prairie, Alberta last night and stayed at the Country Roads RV Park. Basically it was a place to park and pee- but I guess that’s all we really needed.
We ran into another Coast Guard family making the journey to Kodiak, they had pulled into the park just a few minutes ahead of us and we spotted their Alaska plates and Coast Guard sticker. This family is making the journey all the way from Elizabeth City, North Carolina and has 3 kids, a dog and a pop-up camper just like us. They were stationed in Kodiak previously, so know what they’re in for as well.

We saw some elk, some deer, and a couple of coyotes along the way, but other than that, it was a pretty quiet day.

Just as we arrived at the park my cell phone rang, and it was my friend, Jessica whose fiancĂ© has been battling cancer for about 2 years. Jerod and I drove to New Hampshire to see them just over a week ago while we were in Vermont, and I’m so glad we did. Ed passed away yesterday. He was 34 years old.
